Deniz Alp
She was born in 1974 in Ankara. In 1984 she entered the Ballet Department of the State Conservatory of Hacettepe University. Deniz Alp attended the International Dance Week of Charles University in Prague in 1993. In 1994, she skipped the first year starting from the second year at the Ballet Department of the Hacettepe University State Conservatory and graduated in 9 years. She started to dance at the State Opera and Ballet Modern Dance Ensemble. She studied with Ben Craft on dance and music thinking and connection to the body in 1994 at the Holborn Center in London. In 1999, she attended the Montreal Quebec Overture Dance Group's summer courses in Canada. In 2000, she worked as a dancer and instructor on the 1st Dance Platform. In 2001, she was a choreographer and dancer in the short film "Adam" which was shot as a project of TRT's Young Filmmakers. In 2002, she created her first choreography "Circulation" in the "Dance Laboratory" project of the Modern Dance Ensemble. Her work was exhibited in the 2nd Dance Platform in the same year. In 2005, she was part of the project of the photographer Osman Ürper, called “Nefis Nefs” In 2007, she was part of the choreography of Devrim İleri Tozkoparan in the project "Random", which was performed in Garaj Istanbul. She was a dance teacher at the Modern Dance Department of the State Conservatory of Hacettepe University and she still continues to teach at the Ankara University State Conservatory, Modern Dance Art Department. At the Hacettepe University, she created "Mixed Feelings" choreography for her students. Each year she participated as a dancer, instructor and choreographer in the Middle East Technical University (METU) Contemporary Dance Days organized by METU Contemporary Dance Ensemble. In 2007, she was a choreographer and dancer in the short film "Ice", directed by Şafak Turkel. In the years 2007, 2008 and 2009 she was a dance teacher at the "Dansa Davet Festival" (Invitation to Dance Festival) organized by the İzmir Ege University and at the "Maltepe Dance Festival" in Istanbul which was organized by the Maltepe University. In 2008, together with Ejder Keskin, she created the choreography titled "Shoot" for the Modern Dance Ensemble. Together with the Swiss Company Linga, she danced in the project "Speed" which was performed in France (Cannes), Switzerland (Lausanne) and Poland (Warsaw) in 2008. She was a dancer in the live dance film “Swan” which was directed by Şafak Türkel in 2008 and 2009. She worked as a dancer, instructor and choreography assistant in the works of the choreographer Beyhan Murphy ''Güldestan '' and '' Barbaros'' which were projects of the General Directorate of the State Opera and Ballet. She was a choreographer in Ankara State Theater's project called "A Typhoon Adventure" which was premiered in 2011. In 2012, she gave Modern Dance lessons to the students of the Ballet Department at the Dokuz Eylül University Conservatoire. In 2012, she was a dance teacher at the 5th “Dansa Davet” (Invitation to Dance) Aegean Modern Dance Festival. In March 2012, she worked as choreographer and dancer in the special project "Anatolian Expression-Migration" made by Selçuk Göldere. She gave workshops at the Hagentheatre (Germany) in 2012. In March 2013, she was part of the featured work "Le BASAR", choreographed by Wanda Goronka which was premiered and directed at the 30th International Ankara Music Festival. In May 2013, she worked as choreographer and dancer on the premiered project titled "The Story of the Turk". In October 2013 she danced in the art project "YUN / US", a joint creation of dancers by Dr. Ronit Land. She made the choreographies of Ankara State Theater's "Nalinlar" and Sivas State Theater's "Kader Kısmet Oyunu" in 2013. In June 2014, she was involved in the project "Die Fliehende" by Dr Ronit Land, Artistic Director of the Rekling Hausen Fringe festival in Germany. In April 2015 she participated as a choreographer and dancer in the program called "Kökler" for the World Dance Day as part of the International Bartok Music Festival and Symposium of the Hacettepe University. She also created the choreography called "Threshold" for this festival. In 2015, she created the project called “Knot” for the Modern Dance Ensemble students of the Hacettepe University. In May 2016, she was a choreographer and dancer in the "Back Garden" which was created by the 7+ Ensemble in cooperation with the German Cultural Institute in Ankara. In November 2016, she choreographed "Totsty and Anna" for the Ankara State Theater. In November 2016, she was a choreographer and dancer in the "In commemoration of the poet Aşık Mahsuni", which was a project of the Çankaya Municipality'. She choreographed "Theater Machine" for the Ankara State Theater and in October 2017 and the “Memleketimden İnsan Manzarları” (People's Views from My Country) project for the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality City Theater. In 2017 she was the choreographer at the opera called "IV.Murat" of the Ankara State Opera and Ballet. In 2018 she was a dancer in projects "Lazy Memiş", "Saz Kafeste Mor Kuslar", "Wrath Grape", "Beauty and the Beast" and "Balon" which were all performed at the Ankara State Theater. She danced in the opera "Midasın Kulakları" (The Ears of Midas), "Blue Point", "Love and Poetry in France" and "Andrea Cheiner" operas which all were performed at the State Opera and Ballet. Since she joined the State Opera and Ballet Modern Dance Ensemble, she has acted as a dancer in many productions and has participated in domestic and international tournaments. She is currently working as a trainer, coach and, dance teacher and dancer in the Modern Dance Company of the State Opera and Ballet. She has worked with instructors and choreographers such as Lloyd Newson, Ben Craft, Paul Douglas, Isabel Mortimer, Amanda Miller, Yair Vardi, Lutz Forster, Kenneth Tharp, Frederic Lescure, Yossi Yungman, Ignacio Azpillaga Camio and Nicole Caccivio who came as guests to the State Opera and Ballet Modern Dance Ensemble.
